“I knocked on the door and director Marc Webb answered, which was the first weird thing. And then I saw the little flip cam, which was recording. They were my reaction to not getting the role, or getting the role. I hope it wasn’t cruel, because that would be really fucked up.”

Garfield stops, and immediately Tipp-Exes himself. “I mean messed up”. “It’s ok, we say. This is Empire, you can say the F-Word.” He shakes his head, that thick wave of brown hair resolutely staying put. “No, I’m supposed to be a role model while I’m doing these interviews. I can’t say…” And this time his spider sense kicks in and he tiptoes around the danger. “I can’t say effed up”. This is clearly a man who takes Spider-Man’s signature axiom deadly seriously. With great power comes great responsibility. Spider-Man is clearly in good hands.
